Zusammen mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen vom Leibniz-Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropaforschung (IOS) und der Graduiertenschule für Ost- und Südosteuropastudien findet am 25. April 2019 in Regensburg die erste Veranstaltung der öffentlichen Dialog-Reihe des Center for International and Transnational Area Studies (CITAS) statt. In dieser öffentlichen Diskussion werden Lauri Mälksoo (Tartu) und Gesine Dornblüth (Berlin) mit Cindy Wittke (Regensburg) über die internationale und regionale Bedeutung der russischen Ansätze im Völkerrecht diskutieren.

In der CITAS-Dialogreihe soll der heutige Zustand Europas untersucht werden, der sich zwischen Krise und Aufbruch wie Brexit, Spannungen mit Russland und dem Aufkommen des Populismus in Europa und über den Atlantik befindet. Dies wirkt sich auf die europäische Integration und die internationale Position Europas aus.
Professor Dr. Lauri Mälksoo ist Professor für Internationales Recht und Mitglied des Centre for EU-Russia Studies (CEURUS) an der Universität Tartu (Finnland).
Dr. Gesine Dornblüth ist Slawistin und renommierte Hörfunkjournalistin. Von Februar 2012 bis Anfang 2017 war sie als Auslandskorrespondentin für das Deutschlandradio in Moskau tätig und arbeitet seither als freie Autorin und Reporterin.
Dr. Cindy Wittke ist Leiterin der Nachwuchsforschungsgruppe "Frozen and Unfrozen Conflicts" am Leibniz-Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropaforschung in Regensburg.

Together with colleagues from the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) and the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies, the first event in the Dialog series of the Center for International and Transnational Area Studies (CITAS) will take place in Regensburg on 25 April 2019. This public discussion will feature Lauri Mälksoo (Tartu) and Gesine Dornblüth (Berlin) in discussion with Cindy Wittke (Regensburg), debating the international and regional significance of Russia's approaches to international law.
Lauri Mälksoo, Professor of International Law in Tartu, Estonia, and the renowned journalist Dr. Gesine Dornblüth will be in conversation with Dr. Cindy Wittke (IOS, Regensburg) discussing Russia's significance in the realm of international law in the wake of the 2014 Ukraine crisis. The event is supported by the Vielberth Foundation.
The CITAS Dialog series seeks to examine the state of Europe today, located between between crisis and revival as Brexit, tensions with Russia and the rise of populism in Europe and across the Atlantic impact European integration and Europe's international position.
