Friederike Kind-Kovács has won the USC Book Prize in Literary and Cultural Studies 2015

Postdoc at the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies is awarded for an outstanding monograph on Cold War underground literature

Friederike Kind-Kovács, Postdoc at the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies in Regensburg, has won the "University of Southern California Book Prize in Literary and Cultural Studies" for her study "Written Here, Published There: How Underground Literature Crossed the Iron Curtain" (Central European U Press, 2014).

The prestigious Prize is also given to Professor Rachel Feldhay Brenner who has published a book about "The Ethics of Witnessing: The Holocaust in Polish Writers' Diaries from Warsaw, 1939-1945".

The USC Book Prize in Literary and Cultural Studies has been established in 2009 and is sponsored by the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Southern California; it is awarded annually for an outstanding monograph published on Russia, Eastern Europe or Eurasia in the fields of literary and cultural studies.

The University of Southern California Book Prize in Literary and Cultural Studies carries a cash award and is presented at the Annual Convention 2015 of the "Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies" (ASEEES) in Philadelphia on November 21, 2015.
