Agreement on objectives of the Collegium Carolinum signed by the Bavarian State

Core Partner of the Graduate School gains greater planning certainty for planned projects

24.05.2019

By signing an agreement on objectives, the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts enabled the Collegium Carolinum – Research Institute for the History of the Czech Lands and Slovakia in Munich to better plan for the coming years. The Collegium Carolinum is a core partner of the Graduate School.

During a meeting at Collegium Carolinum, Bernd Sibler, the Bavarian State Minister of Sciences, Research and the Arts, signed an agreement on objectives that helps to strengthen the institute, to support its plans for further development and to secure this reputation for the future. For this reason, the Collegium Carolinum will continue to be funded by the Bavarian State into 2022. The agreement has been characterized as a "milestone" by the State Ministry and by Professor Dr. Martin Schulze Wessel, who serves as First Chairman of the Collegium Carolinum and who is also the speaker of the Graduate School.

The aims of the Collegium Carolinum include the expansion and further development of existing online portals in order to make research even more accessible. In addition, research data will be systematically digitally offered in cooperation with the Bavarian State Library (BSB). And the development of mentoring programs for the young researchers is also planned. With the joint agreement on objectives, these and other projects can be carried out with greater planning certainty.
