Application

Doctoral researchers at LMU can apply to GS OSES LMU for admission as members. You need to be enrolled as a PhD student at LMU in order to apply.

How do I apply?

To be considered for membership, please submit the following documents by email to the Graduate School's coordinator, Dr Felix Jeschke, at felix.jeschke@lmu.de. Your application may be in English or German. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

  • Covering letter
  • CV
  • Abstract of doctoral project incl. work plan and timetable (5 pages maximum)
  • Degree certificates and transcripts of records
  • University entrance examination certificate (Abitur or equivalent)
  • Copy of your master's thesis

With the exception of your master's thesis, please submit all documents in one PDF file. Please direct any questions about the application process to felix.jeschke@lmu.de.

What is the selection procedure?

A selection committee that comprises of six PIs reviews the application materials and decides on the acceptance. The GS coordinator will inform you of the decision by email.

What are the criteria for admission?

The selection committee takes into account particularly the originality of the proposal, the viability of the work plan, and your academic record and potential.

Do you offer research funding?

Unfortunately, GS OSESLMU does not offer any research funding. However, the School will be able to support applications for funding from other sources. Further information about research funding is available from the LMU Graduate Center. BAYHOST offers scholarships for graduates from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
